Top 25 Thru-hikes in America

The prompt for this project was to create a series of five graphs on a topic of my choosing. I chose to organize the data on the 25 longest thru-hikes in America. My five subtopics were the distance, mileage, elevation, FKT (Fastest Known Time attempt), and best season to hike each trail. After thorough research, data analysis, layout construction, and organization I was then asked to create a 20-page E-book showing my findings in InDesign. Below are five spreads from this book specifically highlighting the data visualization.

The App

In addition to this book, I designed portions of the UI for an app, that thru-hikers could actively use on the trails. The app includes re-supply information, a plant identifier, in-depth information and logistics for each trail, a water tracker, and a profile to record stats for individual users. This design is more of a task flow than a user flow due to the scope and timeframe of the specific assignment. This design was made in Adobe Illustrator.
